Caracas, 13 Sep. AVN.- Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro accepted on Tuesday an invitation by former Spanish prime minister, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, and the Dominican Republic government to hold a meeting with representatives of the opposition in the Caribbean country in order to continue the dialogue between both parties.

"The president Zapatero, president Danilo Medina and chancellor (Miguel) Vargas of the Dominican Republic know very well that I have been the promoter of this dialogue and I accept this new session of dialogue," said the Venezuelan leader during a council of ministers, in the Miraflores presidential palace in Caracas.

In the activity, the President added that "only dialogue is the way to address differences, to lead a country, to help our Venezuela take the road to economic recovery with greater speed, I believe in dialogue and for this I welcome this communique."

In this regard, he said the socialist leader on behalf of the Government, Jorge Rodriguez, will travel with a Venezuelan delegation in the next few hours to the Dominican Republic.

"We are men and women of their word, I believe in the word, in dialogue, politics as the exercise of truth, sharing, debate of ideas and freedom of expression," he said in a joint radio and television address.

Following a meeting between Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian announced in a communique from his office, reported by EFE, the participation of sectors of the Venezuelan opposition in these tables of dialogue.

"I am happy to learn that dialogue with the opposition would restart tomorrow in the Dominican Republic under the auspices of Dominican Republic President Danilo Medina and the former Spanish prime minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero," said Le Drian quoted by EFE.

The government of the Dominican Republic and former prime minister Zapatero issued a joint statement Tuesday inviting both parties to a dialogue.

"We formally invite government and opposition to follow a process of negotiation and political agreement. A process that should be presided over by the highest respect for the principles of democracy, human rights, social commitment and national sovereignty. Developed on the basis of a formal negotiation and with guarantees providing confidence and credibility," says the text released by the Foreign Ministry of the Dominican Republic.

Former presidents Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, Martin Torrijos from Panama and Leonel Fernandez from the Dominican Republic as well as representatives from the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) and the Vatican have attended past dialogue meetings with Venezuelan government and opposition.
